The Deadline for submissions has been extended to May 30, 2009 Call for Story Submissions We are seeking stories, articles and essays on the general subject of surfing misadventure for publication in the second volume of the book series Surfing's Greatest Misadventures. Generally, we are looking for nonfiction stories, though we will consider creative nonfiction or historical fiction. Send us your surf stories of disaster, attacking predators, misfortune, injury, loss of wit or limb, panic, critical conditions, contest meltdowns, everyday fears, surf trips gone wrong or the rough out-of-water episodes that surround surfing. We’re looking for well-written stories that tell a good tale, reflect a culture, and develop the depth of the characters involved. Open to writers and surfers of any level. Here is a description of the first book in the series: The true stories in this one-of-a-kind collection cross the spectrum from terrifying to comical to downright bizarre. Prepare yourself for the mostgripping and unbelievable stories about big waves, shark attacks, tsunamis, boating disasters, devastating wipeouts, pranks, and bad judgment calls. These thirty tales, by surf journalists, filmmakers, magazine editors, watermen, and everyday surfers, illuminate the less enchanting aspects of a life committed to surf. What do we mean by surfing? We include the following types of wave riding: surfing, body boarding, bodysurfing, tow-in surfing, wind surfing, kiteboarding and any other form of wave riding. Payment Writers will be paid $100 upon publication if their story is selected for publication. A note from the publisher: The weak economy has forced Casagrande Press to delay the publication of Surfing's Greatest Misadventures Vol. 2. We're aiming to release it sometime in late 2009 or mid 2010. In the meantime, we hope you will support us buy telling your friends about our new fishing book, Fishing's Greatest Misadventures. Also check out the debut novel we have published, The Moon in Deep Winter. This breakout novel recently reached #2 on the San Diego Union Tribune best seller list. It's a dark comedy--imagine "Fargo meets the Brady Bunch" then imagine that the Brady Bunch Kids are all plotting to murder each other, now you get the picture of this book. Dark, funny and riveting all at once. See www.casagrandepress.com for all of our titles. SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
